The FCA has recently announced that it is sending some of its people out from Canary Wharf to meet up with those it regulates.
Those working in the General Insurance sector have been invited to attend a series of events around the country from September to December this year.
The details are as follows:
1) Interactive workshop: Working to prevent harm – a general insurance focus
Cost: £85
Dates: |
19 September |
County Durham |
|
11 October |
Belfast |
|
15 November |
Edinburgh |
|
12 December |
Coventry |
“This highly interactive session, facilitated by supervisors, will help firms identify and understand risks and potential causes of harm. The workshop will be based around an interactive case study where delegates will work through a specific scenario. This will involve a number of topics including Insurance Distribution Directive, complaints, and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime. The scenario will put into practice our expectations and will give attendees ideas and concepts that are applicable to their own businesses.”
2) Q&A roundtable with FCA and industry panel
Cost: Free
Dates: |
3 October |
Leeds |
|
6 December |
Southampton |
“The discussion at this session will be driven by the attendees. This is your opportunity to directly pose questions, provide feedback or challenge in an open and informal setting. The panel for each session will include a senior representative from us plus an industry expert. We are conscious that there is a lot of regulatory change and in some instances misunderstanding about our requirements. The aim of this roundtable session is to answer and discuss any regulatory questions or concerns that firms may have.”
Registration for these two events is now open; details are available on the FCA’s dedicated webpage:- https://www.fca.org.uk/general-insurance-events-live-local
In addition, the FCA is planning two presentations in the autumn at their London office – one for retail insurer firms, and another for Lloyd’s and London markets firms.
“In these sessions, we will speak on key issues affecting the insurance industry. These presentations will cover one or more key issues within the market as well as our business priorities.”
Event and registration details of these two presentations will be available in September.
So, if you fancy having some contact with representatives from your regulator, you can go on to the FCA’s website and book in to a suitable event.
